I went out this morning to check on the garden. I was expecting very little for the seedlings, and was looking to see more progress overall. I went out to the seedlings first. The big set was depressing, though I did find one lonely little sprout that I suspect is Onion. I replanted that little guy in with the cauliflower, to give it a better chance. Going back to the seedling table, I realized that a sweet child of mine had watered and covered the pepper sprout last night. This makes my heart smile, as I was busy with many other things yesterday. There are now a few struggling little pepper sprouts!

The marigolds have gotten strong and fragrant. I dead headed them and checked them for bugs. I took a quick look in the top of the planter, and realized I had ground breaking from the potato I put in there!! That reminded me that I had ground breaking in another planter, so I turned about, and was VERY surprised!! I had not one, but 7(?) sproutlings in the black potato bin!! Unfortunately, I did not get the drainage holes into the gold potato bin fast enough, and I suspect I lost all 10 of those potential plants. That's ok, as I have some ideas on making a potato tower or bucket or SOMETHING to ensure I am not buying potatoes anymore.

I've got corn sprouting, tomatoes blooming, strawberries growing, aphids a plenty and one tiny ladybug has already come to help tackle the problem. I've got some recipes to try on the plants to deal with the bugs, and I saw a neighbor with a bee box only a few blocks away. The bee box sitting out on the front yard of an urban neighborhood was VERY encouraging, and gave me some more ideas. *grin*

Today I will straw the berries and start mucking out the little patch of dirt next to my front door. The plants there are no longer thriving, and I could use that space to grow some handy things. I might even get VERY brave, and put a raised bed out in the front yard. That area gets full sun, all day long. I also need to move the planters about so that we can mow around them. This gives me a chance to check the drainage, as well as turn the pots and set them differently.
